Microsoft might have announced the closure of Lionhead Studios and the cancellation of Fable Legends, the game that was intended to be the latest addition to the Fable series. While Sony has begun recruiting the former Lionhead team members, concern of the future of the Fable franchise has grown.
Although the studio behind Fable was founded in 1996, it wasn't until 2004 that Lionhead acquired the rights to Fable when the studio purchased the original Fable Developer, Big Blue Box Studios. Simon Carter and his brother Dene Carter founded Blue Box back in 1998, with the intention of developing Fable.
The brothers managed to get their game developed with the help of Lionhead, but Dene parted ways with the studio in 2009, followed by Simon in 2011. With the cancellation of Fable Legends and Lionhead closing its doors, the two founders seem open to a reboot or addition to the series, heck even former Lionhead developer, Georg Backer, joined the conversation hoping for a reboot.
It didn't just stop there, the original writer of the Fable games, Mark Llabres Hill is 'in' for reboot on account of 'unused fart jokes,' even the former franchise manager and lead designer at Lionhead, Ted Timmins, wanted in on this project.
