If you have yet to go out and pick up your copy of Rage, I would suggest you stick with either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions. Now, before you scold me and give me the whole deal on how the PC can pump out better graphics, there's something you have to know. You see, it turns out the PC version of Rage isn't really delivering the goods in terms of visual presentaiton.
It appears that regardless of your computer's specs, chances are you'll encounter some serious graphical flaws while playing Rage. Ugly screen-tearing, nasty bugs, and horrid texture loading are all among the various culprits. Sadly, this is even prominent in high-end PCs. No one is safe!
Last night, id Software's John Carmack made sure to inform gamers to have the latest tech installed on their computers in order to play the game. "Everyone, make sure you have the latest Nvidia/Ati drivers to play Rage!" he tweeted. As gamers have noticed today, the latest drivers don't do much to change the numerous technical flaws found in the PC version of the game.
It's a shame that such an amazing-looking title can't deliver in terms of the PC, which has always been the most powerful machine on the market. Here's hoping the folks over at id Software fix these issues right up. GameZone's Mike Splechta awarded Rage an impressive 8.5 out of 10 score, so there's no denying that this title's most definitely worth checking out.
