Our first look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice doesn’t disappoint

While we never doubted Jesse Eisenberg had the acting chops to adequately portray Lex Luthor in the Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, one of the biggest concerns regarding his casting was could he fit the look.

Eisenberg has already proved he's perfectly capable of playing an intellectual billionaire whose moral compass doesn't always point North; after all, he starred as Mark Zuckerberg in the movie about Facebook. There were doubts, however, that Eisenberg could pull off the ominous look of Lex Luthor, the villainous business magnate. And I'm not even referring to Luthor's iconic bald look; I'm just talking about his overall presentation on screen.

Eisenberg has had the look of the disheveled shlub in just about everything I've seen him in, but as the first image of him in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (via Entertainment Weekly), Zack Snyder sure can clean a man up.

Not only does Eisenberg closely resemble the bald supervillain we've come to know in the comics — perhaps better than any of us even expected — but the serious tone depicted in the image reaffirms our initial beliefs that Eisenberg can be more than the sarcastic, witty little punk we've seen him as far too often.

“He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure,” Snyder told EW, “other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course.

“Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25, 2016. What do you think of Eisenberg as Lex Luthor?
