Supergirl executive producer Ali Adler has shared new details on the character Lucy Lane's role in the upcoming show. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Adler teased how Lane's arrival will impact Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).
"We hope to explore the history that Lucy has with James Olsen — or as Lucy knows him, Jimmy Olsen," Adler revealed.
"I think we're going to bring in her father [General Sam Lane]," she teased. "She not only plays a romantic foil with whatever Kara and James are brewing, but people will also be surprised that she's really a woman's woman. She and Kara develop their own friendship, too. We're not just bringing her in to purposefully create tension. She deserves a larger story drive."
In addition to the character details, EW also shared the first image of Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane, the younger sister of Lois Lane. Lucy will be a recurring character in the show, joining "several episodes" into the debut season this fall.
Supergirl is set to premiere on Monday, October 26 in a special 8:30pm ET slot on CBS before moving to its regular 8:00pm ET slot the following week.
