The horror game that took the internet by storm, Outlast, got a sequel announced this year after having massive success across Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game that put players in an asylum and gave them no tools other than a camera to help navigate the terrfiying mental hospital. It put a new spin on the horror franchise in a way we have never seen before.
Red Barrels Games has been fairly silent since the announcement of the title, only revealing a couple pieces of gameplay showing the player navigating through a corn field while attempting to escape from some psychos pursuing you. Today, Red Barrels broke their silence and revealed the highly anticipated sequel will not be releasing this Halloween as many of us thought.
The sequel that will take players into the rural outdoors has been pushed to an unspecified date in the first quarter of 2017. Red Barrels released a statement saying the following. “We want you to know that we listen to your feedback, we see your excitement and we know you care about our work,” the studio writes. “Our mission as an indie studio is to deliver to you the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible. That’s why we’re taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve.”
