Last week, it was revealed that Outlast 2 would not be making a release in Australia due to the inclusion of 'implied sexual violence.' The Australian Classification Board banned the game in its current state from releasing in Australia.
A week later and the Australian Classification Board has postponed their final decision on the subject until tomorrow, March 25th, at the request of Outlast 2's Australian distributor. The Board detailed that “it is satisfied that that the original version of the game that was refused classification has been modified to allow the game to be classified R 18+.”
While the Board states that the game has been altered, the developer – Red Barrels – says otherwise. In a statement to Press Start, Red Barrels maintained that there is just "one" version of the game. “Outlast 2 has been rated R18+ by the Classification Branch in Australia and will be released 26th April 2017. There will be only one version of Outlast 2 available worldwide.”
This suggests that the game has been edited for worldwide release, though, it's unverified at the moment. Outlast 2 will be releasing on April 25th, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
