Outlast’s first DLC is a prequel that introduces the ‘whistleblower’

Survival-horror game Outlast is getting its first downloadable content release. It's a prequel that introduces a new playable character — the same person who sent protagonist Miles Upshur the anonymous letter that led him to Mount Massive Asylum.

Whistleblower — confirmed on Tuesday — reveals the experiments and abuse that corrupted the asylum, leaving it in the chaotic state that Miles finds it in.

A look at the DLC's title art shows someone motioning for silence by lifting a severed finger to his mouth. Creepy.

Developer Red Barrels Games has not yet set a release date for the DLC, but the game is currently 33 percent off on Steam, GOG, Gamersgate, and the main website, where customers can also snag the official soundtrack when they purchase the game.
