Over $3 million pledged for Wasteland 2

inXile has raised over $3 million for Wasteland 2.

The game's Kickstarter officially ended earlier today with over 60,000 backers pledging $2,933,252, or triple the amount originally needed to fund the post-apocalyptic role-playing game.  With an additional $107,502 pledged through PayPal, creator Brian Fargo and the rest of the dev team now has a whopping $3,040,649 to work with for Wasteland 2.

At $2 million raised, inXile promised to bring Wasteland 2 to OS X and Linux.  Now, with $3 million available, Fargo has suggested mod tools will be made available.

This is all in addition to Fargo enlisting the help of Fallout: New Vegas designer Chris Avellone and Obsidian Entertainment, who agreed to help with the design process in bringing Wasteland to life.  Obsidian will lend both their design tools and RPG expertise to help develop the game.

Wasteland 2, a top-down tactical RPG, is the direct sequel to the 1988 cult classic.  Alan Pavlish and Mike Stackpole, the original game's primary designers, are back working on it, alongside Mark Morgan, who created the music for Fallout 1 and Fallout 2Fallout creator, Jason Anderson, is writing the Wasteland 2 story.
