Nintendo's Year of Luigi celebrations — which are lasting into 2014 — will finally end on March 18.
Designer Shigeru Miyamoto took to the Miiverse online community to share the news. "Almost a year has passed since I announced the Year of Luigi, marking the 30th anniversary of Luigi’s debut," he wrote. "Thanks to everyone's kind support, we were able to release many Luigi games over the course of the year. I hope everyone continues to cheer for the green brother!
"However, all good things must come to an end, and the Year of Luigi will conclude on March 18."
In the past year, Nintendo has released Luigi-centric titles such as Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, New Super Luigi U, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and Dr. Luigi. The cap on the festivities, which officially began on Feb. 14 last year, will also mean the end of the Miiverse Year of Luigi community and its Developers' Room.
