Dataminers may have discovered evidence of a potential anniversary event for 'Overwatch's one year birthday later this month.
The recent 'Uprising' event in 'Overwatch' was considered a great success. Thanks to those trusty dataminers out there, recent info has been uncovered that points to an event not too far off. The popular theory is that the intel points to the one year anniversary of 'Overwatch' on May 24th.
One Redditor has posted a list of voicelines from various characters that hint at a new game mode. Most of the lines refer to an "objective". Vague as that is, they refer specifically to "destroying" an objective, which doesn't apply to any map or game mode that we've had so far.
If that weren't enough, YouTuber Hammeh has posted a video breaking down most of the coding found by dataminers that go so far as to reveal that a new map and/or mode has been set aside for testing, as well as characters like Reaper, Orisa, Sombra, and Tracer may be getting the new set of skins. Check it out here:
Whether this is legitimate proof or just speculation remains to be seen. Blizzard has been pretty consistant with the frequency of their events, so Its just as likely a birthday event won't be coming so soon after 'Uprising'. While all this should still point to an upcoming event, it may be further down the line. Game Director, Jeff Kaplan, has already announced that a total of three maps are already in development, which means the next chapter of 'Overwatch' might be revealed before we know it. Check back for more updates on all things 'Overwatch'.
