Overwatch’s first animated teaser is downright stunning

Blizzard today released Recall, the animated Overwatch short the studio has been teasing since late 2015, illustrating yet again that the house of WoW has some of the best animators in the business.

Recall stars the tanky hero Winston, a brilliant gorilla who is far more brutal in-game than his somber demeanor suggests. Aptly titled, the short recalls the glory days of Winston and the Overwatch team, and highlights the disarray they’ve apparently since fallen into.

Reaper, a high-damage hero, plays the antagonist in the short. Near the end of the eight-minute clip, high-mobility hero Tracer makes an appearance via phone. There are also several Easter eggs tucked into those eight minutes, including a none too subtle nod at Hearthstone (the Acolyte of Pain at 1:29).

As a now-confirmed leak suggested, Overwatch will release for PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 24. The game requires a paltry 7GB of space on Xbox One, which bodes well for increasingly cramped console hard drives.
