In case you missed today's BlizzCon opening ceremony, Blizzard announced Overwatch, a new team-based, multiplayer first-person shooter "with an emphasis on accessibility and pure fun."
And when Blizzard says "pure fun," it looks like they mean it. Accompanying today's announcement was a fairly-lengthy gameplay trailer that shows off a number of the game's unique, powerful heroes. Though the heroes each have their own distinct weapons and superabilities, they also fill one of four individual roles — Offense, Defense, Tank, or Support. The key, Blizzard says, is assembling a well-balanced team and creatively combining your Heroes' powers.
Combining the powers of a diverse cast of soldiers, mercenaries, scientists, adventurers, and oddities, with locations spanning a highly stylized future Earth, Overwatch looks like a damn good time.
Overwatch doesn't yet have a release date, but sign-ups for the beta (coming in 2015) are already underway.
