Overwatch’s Mei’s “Sorry, Sorry, I’m Sorry” Voice Line Was Not Planned

Overwatch has some very memorable characters from all over the world, and their voice acting is strong. Many of their lines are famous now, thanks to the game's popularity. But it turns out one of the more recognizable lines was actually not written by Blizzard, but done off the cuff.

Mei is often very polite and apologetic. So her line, "Sorry, Sorry, I'm sorry," seems very in-character. However, that line wasn't actually in the script for voice actress Zhang Yu.

Revealed at Tribeca Games Festival (Polygon), it turns out it was Zhang actually apologizing about messing up a line.

“The actress [Zhang Yu] just made a mistake and was saying ‘Sorry, sorry, sorry,’” he told attendees when asked to name his favorite line from the game. “And I turned to the engineer and asked, ‘Did you get that?’And he was like, ‘Yep,’ and I was like, ‘Send that to me.'”

This just shows how much Blizzard put into Overwatch, and how they got voice actors that truly fit their characters.
