Blizzard will permanently ban cheaters in Overwatch on their first offense without a warning. This move might just keep cheaters out of the game.
Blizzard's policy regarding cheating in Overwatch is strict, cheat and you are out, there is no second chance. A post on the official Overwatch forums describes in detail their policy on cheating and it goes something like this:
"If a player is found to be cheating—or using hacks, bots, or third-party software that provides any sort of unfair advantage—that player will be permanently banned from the game. Full stop"
The post also explains how to report cheaters and what to think about when reporting and it looks like Blizzard knows that players might get salty when playing against a pro since they wrote
"Lastly, some players are just really good at first-person shooters. Through practice and years of experience, these players’ movements and reaction times can occasionally appear unnatural (if not physically impossible) to those who may not have been exposed to that particular level of play before."
This isn't the first time Blizzard has dealt with cheaters with force, they banned a whole bunch of Hearthstone botters back in 2014 and also let the ban hammer fall on cheaters in Diablo 3.
With over 9,7 million players in the beta it looks like Overwatch will be a popular game and with Blizzards stance it looks like Overwatch will be cheater free.
Overwatch launches on May 24.
