Back in September 2015, we got a look at a game that promised to be the spiritual successor to P.T., the Silent Hills playable demo, called Allison Road. The game creator and developer turned to Kickstarter to fund the game.
Shortly after hitting Kickstarter the game picked up a publisher in October 2015 and canceled its crowdfunding campaign. Unfortunately, Allison Road was canceled in June 2016 after the developer and the publisher decided to end their partnership.
Creator Christian Kesler has announced that the game is back in development and he will be working on it as a solo project, just like it was when we first saw prototype gameplay.
“I'm actually really happy to be able to announce that [Allison Road] will continue,” Kesler told IGN. “We had a lot of support online and some folks out there are just incredibly nice.”
Working on Allison Road isn't something too unfamiliar for Kesler, the prototype gameplay had been his work.
“For our gameplay trailer, I did all the modeling, texturing, shaders, lighting, etc., and thankfully a lot of the mechanics are already implemented from the previous development phase, so I can comfortably take the game forward by myself,” said Kesler. “If and when it comes to a point where new features and mechanics are required, or old ones need changing, I'll go look for support.”
Kesler didn't nail down any type of release window or what platform the game is being developed for, but knowing that the game is back in development is good enough (for now).
