Paradox Interactive releases new Stellaris trailer

Swedish game developer and publisher Paradox Interactive is at it with what they do best, making strategy games. The studio mostly known for games like Europa Universalis IV, Crusader Kings II, and Cities: Skyline is taking a stab at space strategy with their new game Stellaris.

Announced 7th August 2015 at Gamescom Stellaris now has it's first  real trailer. From what we can see it will be a Masters of Orion, Star Wars: Empire at War, and Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion type strategy game.

Stellaris takes the traditional approach, humans discover space flight and decides to explore the galaxy, humans then go on and find themselves some dangerous aliens that kills them and they learn the hard way that the galaxy is filled with dangerous lifeforms. Then all of the lifeforms tries to gain galactic supremacy one way or another.

Paradox Interactive's official description of the games goes

"Explore a vast galaxy full of wonder! Paradox Development Studio, makers of the Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis series presents Stellaris, an evolution of the grand strategy genre with space exploration at its core.

Featuring deep strategic gameplay, an enormous selection of alien races and emergent storytelling, Stellaris has a deeply challenging system that rewards interstellar exploration as you traverse, discover, interact and learn more about the multitude of species you will encounter during your travels.

Etch your name across the cosmos by uncovering remote celestial outposts, and entire civilizations. Will you expand through war or walk the path of diplomacy to achieve your goals?

Main Features

  • Anomaly Events – Strange discoveries offer emergent storytelling.
  • Deep & Varied Exploration.
  • Enormous procedural galaxies, containing thousands of planets.
  • Numerous playable species, each with their own traits and engineering styles.
  • Vast number of Unique Random Species.
  • Advanced Diplomacy system.
  • Ship Designer (even civilian ships can be customized).
  • Stunning space visuals.
  • Up to 32 player Multiplayer "

As the description clearly shows Stellaris won't be a game you just pick up and play, it sets out to be a deep and advanced space strategy game. As Henrik Fåhraeus, game director of Stellaris, puts it "it is a bit of a hybrid between classical Paradox games and classical 4X games".

It won't be long until gamers will get their tentacles on Stellaris since it is scheduled to come out May 9th 2016, less than 2 months away! And it will come out for all three major computer operating systems, Windows, Mac, and Linux.
