GOG.com recently had an incredible deal for the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise. I've been using that as an excuse to play through the games again, reliving the fond memories of my teenage years.
I've also been using them to remember how much my park's guests are obsessed with go-karts. No matter the cost, or the fact that I've had multiple tracks in one park, these people need to get their motorized kart racing on.
Not pictured is the other track that resides on the other side of the park.
(Oh geez, I just realized the year in that Copyright. RollerCoaster Tycoon turns 15 next year. I feel old.)
I just built this track and it's already in high demand. Some people are running from the exit straight back to the entrance. I may suck at building roller coasters (I've built and destroyed maybe 20 coasters since starting Leafy Lake), but I can just draw up a random go-kart track and make easy money.
One surefire way to win scenarios this afternoon was to make multiple go-kart tracks, leave the game running, watch the Germany/Algeria World Cup game, then come back to make sure people weren't throwing up all over my paths.
They were; those jerks. Thankfully, the guests didn't seem to mind since they were TOO BUSY WAITING IN LINE TO RIDE GO-KARTS.
I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. King's Island is fifteen minutes up the road from me. They have go-karts there. The lines are never, ever, ever long. Hell, there's rarely even a line. Don't tell that to the RollerCoaster Tycoon guests, though. They'll drop $50 on a ticket with the sole intent of spending $2.50 to ride the go-karts.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to alt-tab back into the game and watch some go-kart races.
