Path of Exile: The Awakening now available

Grinding Gear Games’ Path of Exile’s new expansion, The Awakening, finally went live just a couple days ago and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by just how much content we’re being offered. Especially when you consider the price- Free. As in a bird. As in the land of. As in footloose and fancy. Free.

Path of Exile first came out in 2013 and the studio has done a great job at supporting the Diablo style action RPG and while, yes, there are microtransactions, the sheer amount of additions they’ve provided since the initial launch is impressive. The Awakening continues this trend multifold by giving players access to new skills, weapons, armor, levels and challenges.

The game is also known for its extensive and skill tree and it’s an item that is getting new features as well, this time in the form of socketable jewels that create varying effects within a given talent, allowing you to stack and customize bonus packed skills. Challenge Leagues are also getting a polish with two new Challenge Leagues, Warbands and Tempest.

Both Path of Exile and its new expansion are available for free for PC.
