PAX East: Stoic talks potential for The Banner Saga 3

Nothing is set in stone, but the Developers want to keep the series going

The Banner Saga is one of the best indie games you can play right now. It started out as a PC exclusive, but has gradually made its way to Xbox One, PS4 and mobile devices with a PS Vita version due sometime in the future thanks to Sony.

This weekend is PAX East up in Boston (don't forget your free deodorant courtesy of Twitch), and Developers from all over the world are speaking and taking questions at various panels. Speaking today, Lead Concept Artist Arnie Jorgensen and Lead Programmer John Watson discussed The Banner Saga 3, though no official details were set in stone.

Jorgensen teased that the story will grow to become "stranger and stranger," drawing on the "weirdness" of Norse mythology.

The game's world is a "very fertile ground for storytelling." said Watson; and Stoic has a strong desire to "flesh [the story] out for a long time." according to Jorgensen.

Obviously, the pair didn't guarantee anything, most likely due to the small nature of the studio. Jorgensen added, "The longer we get to do this, the more of the world we'll see."

This pretty much translates to, the future of the franchise is in the hands (wallets) of the fans. Indie Development is a tough and risky business, and considering the company is comprised of only three people, this makes sense.

The Banner Saga 2 was delayed until this year, releasing only this past week on April 19th. But if you want to see more of The Banner Saga in the future, the best way to do that is to support the team by picking up their games.
