PAX West 2016: Outward, the Fantasy RPG with a ‘reality check’, releases new gameplay trailer

You're not special...just human

You know how a lot of games seem like they go out of their way to tell players they are special? Outward is not that kind of game. So if you're an RPG fan looking for a challenge, Outward might just have the thing for you. In this game, players have to consider a number of factors that RPG's typically don't demand of their users. Outward integrates mechanics from the survival genre like hunger, thirst, and fatigue to make the battle to survive within just as much as it is in front of you.

The game will also constantly auto-save so that everything you do has repercussions that can't be undone. Making informed decisions is the name of the game in Outward as there will be no level scaling, so you have to be aware of what areas are too strong for your character. You have to be smart about even the little things, such as how you dress. For instance, wearing heavy armor in the middle of the desert could dehydrate you rather quickly, introducing another problem that you have to contend with. Also, you won't be able to pack your pockets with loot like a hoarder without having to concede some of your maneuverability.

One of Outward's more intriguing features is that it will have a two-player co-op mode, and best of all about this is that the mode will be both online and local.

Outward does not currently have a release date, but it will be releasing on both PC and consoles.
