Payday 2 is being given away for free on Steam right now

Hey, you know what's better than getting a game? Getting a game for free. That's exactly what's happening on Steam right now with Payday 2 as developer Overkill has announced that they are giving away 5 million copies of the game from now until June 21st. All you have to do is head over to the game's Steam page and click "Install" and it will be automatically added to your library.

Also, by grabbing the game you will also get access to the Payday 2 VR Beta, which will turn into the full version later this year at no cost to you. What's cool about the VR version is that it supports crossplay, so people playing the VR version will still be able to play with gamers using the standard version.

In other Payday 2 news, Overkill has removed all of the game's DLC, which now comes packaged in as part of the Ultimate Edition. Current owners of Payday 2 who don't own the DLC will have to shell out some cash to upgrade, though how much remains to be seen. Payday 2 is also due to release on Nintendo Switch later this year, but a release date has not been given.
