PC adventure classic Blade Runner finally available again on GOG

More cyberpunk

An unexpected cult classic has made its return to the PC with Blade Runner. The great point-and-click adventure game from way back in 1997 was lost from digital stores for decades after landing in licensing limbo. Thanks to the dedicated folks at GOG, gamers can now once again indulge in an immersive cyberpunk world.

Cyberpunk is the rage at the moment. Not the least thanks to Polish gaming wizards CD Projekt RED and their highly-anticipated first-person action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077. But with the game still months away, fans of the genre can now delve into a neon-drenched world of Blade Runner. Inspired by Ridley Scott’s seminal movie of the same name, players take the role of Ray McCoy. A detective who’s out to hunt rogue androids – replicants.

In 1997 Westwood Studios released a title that won universal praise from gamers and critics all around the world, along with accolades like AIAS’s Adventure Game of the Year award. Set in the same time and universe as the 1982 classic science fiction film by Ridley Scott, Blade Runner video game is now making a big comeback on modern computers.

Blade Runner is not only special for being finally re-released, but it’s also an awesome game on its own. A rarity even today for games that originate from other types of medium. It’s also one of the better examples of featuring real-world actors as digitized game sprites. In the same vein as early Mortal Kombat titles. This not only helps ground the experience in reality but also helps immensely conveying the lore-rich atmosphere of a futuristic world.

At the moment, Blade Runner is only available on PC via GOG but we suspect it to make to Steam and maybe even consoles in the future. You can buy Blade Runner right now on PC exclusively via GOG for just $8.99.
