Peril on Gorgon DLC for The Outer Worlds gets lengthy gameplay video

Obsidian Entertainment’s space action-RPG The Outer Worlds is soon getting its first big DLC. To ramp up the excitement, we now have brand-new gameplay footage that shows the weighty expansion in action. Watch it below!

The Outer Worlds is a great new IP that finally put Obsidian back in the limelight. The iconic RPG studio was for the longest time relegated to the niche isometric hardcore RPG genre. And while the likes of Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny are outstanding examples of their genre, fans were always hoping for the studio to tackle a more popular and mainstream genre.

While Bethesda has no interest in giving Obsidian another jab at a Fallout game, the studio created their very own take on it. It’s not a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland like the former but it bears plenty of inspirations from their excellent Fallout: New Vegas nonetheless.

A severed arm and a mysterious message lead the crew of the Unreliable to the Gorgon Asteroid, formerly the site of one of Halcyon’s most ambitious and disastrous scientific undertakings, now a lawless den of monsters and marauders. Wealthy recluse Minnie Ambrose tasks the crew with finding answers about Dr. Olivia Ambrose, her mother and the doomed project’s disgraced director, but they are soon ensnared in an intrigue that will change the colony forever.

The great success of The Outer Worlds has prompted a large expansion with Peril on Gorgon even. Slated to release on September 9th  for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, this expansion features a new world to explore, new NPCs, weapons, gear, and of course new quests to go on.

Seeing that The Outer Worlds is the last release of the studio as an independent developer, it might also be the last Obsidian game to make it to the PlayStation. Microsoft acquired Obsidian which is now part of the Xbox Game Studios umbrella.
