Peter Capaldi has announced that he will be stepping down from 'Doctor Who' at the end of season ten.
For all Whovians out there, its been quite a tough run as of late. The unfortunate passing of acting legend and former War Doctor, John Hurt, left a legion of fans in mourning. While fans are still recovering from the blow of losing not only a great Doctor, however brief his adventure was, but a great man all around, it seems another piece of bad news has hit while the wound is still fresh.
It would seem that Peter Capaldi, the 12th Doctor, will be regenerating into his next form at the end of the upcoming season ten. Almost every new season of 'Doctor Who' is pretty much traditionally coupled with rumors that it'll be the current Doctor's final run. Unfortunately, this time…its actually happening. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, Capaldi dished on his departure from the series:
Peter Capaldi has had something of a contraversial time on the TARDIS. Many fans weren't happy about some of the choices made for which to move the series forward, while many others were very passionate about his embodiment of The Doctor. Be that as it may, Capaldi has had the opportunity to portray one of the most iconic and awe-inspiring characters in pop culture history, and play him well he has. There's still another season with the 12th Doctor on the way, but until the inevitable regeneration, we can only speculate as to who will take the reigns as the 13th.
