Petition to bring Bloodborne to PC reeks of entitlement

The silliest thing I've ever seen

These days, it takes a lot for something to surprise me in the gaming industry. But every now and then I stumble across a petition on change.org that makes me stop and chuckle.

Today's fantastic petition calls for the release of PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne on PC.

"Everyone should be able to play your game. It is not fair that we are left out. You have betrayed us after releasing your last two games on PC."

Gamers, we sure are a passionate bunch. What's perhaps most surprising is that over 20,000 members of the PC Master Race have agreed with this notion of "betrayal," as if FromSoftware actually owes us anything. The whole thing just reeks of entitlement.

What's most laughable is that even if the petition continues to gather supporters, nothing will ever happen. Bloodborne is a PS4 exclusive and it's not because FromSoftware wants to swim in the pool of tears from entitled PC gamers. Sony is the game's publisher and they want you to buy a PlayStation 4. So they reached out to a popular game developer and paid them to make a game exclusively for their system in hopes of selling more units.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to live in a perfect world free from the shackles of platform exclusivity. A world where games not only release on every platform but offer the same specs so that every gamer gets the same experience. Sadly, we don't live in that world.

We don't know what the situation for FromSoftware was when they agreed to make Bloodborne a PS4 exclusive, but to presume they are doing it as an act of betrayal is just silly and immature. Don't want to be left out? Go buy a PlayStation 4.

It's worth pointing out that this petition was created nine months ago, but has recently started gaining traction thanks to Bloodborne's release.
