Phil Spencer ‘confident’ Halo 5 won’t repeat The Master Chief Collection’s disastrous launch

The release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection was plagued by such horrendous issues that the game's executive producer apologizing, Microsoft's Phil Spencer apologizing and even had the head of 343 Industries (and founder) Bonnie Ross apologizing. Long story short, it was rough.

With such a difficult release, Halo fans have been wary of the ever approaching Halo 5: Guardians release. Halo's Development Director at 343 Industries, Frank O'Connor came out to assure fans that The Master Chief Collection's launch had taught the development teams a lesson and that Halo 5 was being developed by a different team. O'Connor was basically saying that there would be no repeat of past events.

A recent interview with GameSpot has revealed that not only has Xbox Boss Phil Spencer been playing Halo 5 at various stages in its development, but that he's confident that the game will make a smooth release.

"Every time I've been down to 343, the first thing that they want to talk about is how they're doing with multiplayer and the robustness that we mentioned," said Spencer. "No team is focused on it more than 343. The planning and process teams have gone through has been great, and I'm confident in how it will launch based on the results that we're seeing.

"I feel good that the teams all up have taken the lessons of last holiday of some teams missing the bar that they wanted to hit. You're always going to have issues here and there, and you kind of manage through it, but by-and-large, those releases have gone well."

It looks as though everyone around Halo 5 wants to make it common knowledge that there won't be a repeat fiasco of a launch. Honestly, that can only be seen at launch.
