Microsoft revealed Project Scorpio during E3 2016 as a more powerful iteration of the Xbox One. According to Microsoft, this new powerful Xbox console will feature eight cores, six teraflops, 320GB/s memory bandwidth, 4K/VR gaming, backward compatibility, and will be available in 2017.
Project Scorpio doesn't release until this holiday season and games are already in development. With E3 around the corner and a major presentation of the console sure to be there, Microsoft has to make sure the games are up to snuff. According to Xbox head Phil Spencer, he's excited about what's to come.
Great day, Scorpio update w/ team. Played my first games on early Scorpio unit. Games played great, console looked right, proud of the team
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) January 24, 2017
The fact that it is an early unit should not worry you, as this is common in most new console releases. We shouldn't expect Phil to say anything other than what he did, but it shows how well the progress is coming along. If there were issues or something wasn't quite right, we just wouldn't have heard anything yet. It seems that Scorpio is progressing just fine with about nine months to go until the console releases.
We do not know a price yet , but at last year's E3 Microsoft did specify that it was meant to be a more competitive gaming console as it outpowered the current Xbox One about four times over. Sporting 4K native gameplay for all first party games, the Scorpio has a lot of people excited so far. What do you guys think? Let us know below
