Phil Spencer takes ice bucket challenge, challenges Valve, Nintendo and Sony bosses

Xbox boss Phil Spencer today accepted an ice bucket challenge—part of a social media trend supporting ALS research in which participants have a bucket of ice water poured over them and extend a challenge of their own—from Minecraft creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson in a chilling tour of the Xbox campus.

Yet more gaming big-wigs have been dragged into the #icebucketchallenge thanks to Spencer’s reply. The Xbox boss completed his icy dip by issuing a challenge to Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, Valve boss Gabe Newell and Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.

The “ice bucket challenge” began in support of the ALS Association, a leading advocate of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a degenerative nerve disease) awareness. More info can be found at the group’s official site.
