There's no point in pretending that a large portion of the Xbox faithful aren't concerned about the immediate future of the Xbox One because they are. Whether you agree with that assessment or not is hardly relevant, because there's a good reason that tweets like this from the Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer get upvoted to the top of the Xbox subreddit. When asked about getting more JRPG's on the Xbox One, Phil Spencer responded by revealing some travel plans for the upcoming week.
Here's the tweet:
A lot has been made about Xbox One games over the last month or so, particularly in the wake of Scalebound's cancellation. Since then, many gamers have reached out to Spencer over social media expressing concern about what the Xbox One has in the pipeline. Spencer has remained steadfast and confident in the wake of the mild PR fallout, citing a need for the company to "take risks" with future games and points to the upcoming Sea of Thieves as one such offering that Xbox One players should be looking forward to.
It probably doesn't help that Xbox's main competitor has had such a strong start on the console exclusives front. The PS4 has seen Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Tales of Berseria, Nioh, and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue in the first month and a half of 2017. This is not to mention that Horizon: Zero Dawn, NieR: Automata, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Persona 5, and the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will all be added to that tally by the end of June.
And if you take a moment and look at that list of Sony console exclusives, eight of those ten games are developed in Japan. You can bet Phil Spencer probably knows that too.
