The pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto 5 began yesterday and boasts a 60GB download. How will Rockstar deal with that big of a download for people who bought physical copies? Well, it looks like their answer could be seven discs.
That's right folks, seven DVDs will be in your GTA 5 PC case. A Redditor uploaded an image of a GTA 5 box. The game rating suggests that what we are looking at is a non-United States version of the game and the writing on the bottom of the box almost looks Russian.
If all seven discs are dual-layered, they add up to 60GB of downloading — so yes, you will use every single CD. Grand Theft Auto IV shipped in 2008, had an install size of 16 GB and was split up on to two discs. GTA 5 is a huge game, so it's really no surprise that there are a ton of discs.
If it feels like seven disc downloads should only be limited to the early 2000's or 1990's you're not alone. I recall Neverwinter Nights 2 shipping with a bunch discs…and then the download breaking on the third disc making me start all over (the horror).
Be happy they didn't choose floppy discs.
