The X-Files reboot has Special Agents Mulder and Scully returning to FOX for six-episodes. Not much of the shows return has been revealed, except for comments from David Duchovny stating that the script brought tears to his eyes and from Gillian Anderson, who says the first episode is 'slow,' 'intense' and 'functional.'
While Anderson's description brought fear into my heart, hope still remained that the show would be amazing. Exclusive photos from the set of the X-Files reboot have surfaced, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and they have yet to quell the uncertainty in my heart.
They do however reveal the first episode is titled 'My Struggle' and that Annet Mahendru of The Americans and Joel McHale are in the show. The first episode seemingly has to do with alien abductions, something the Special Agents are no stranger to.
Let's take a look at the most important of the images, leaving out pictures of a quaint little house, a "candid" photo of a character, and the cover of the magazine where Duchovny and Anderson are squished against once another looking so show sexual tension (maybe) and who knows what else (maybe I will include it, it's awful).
Special Agent Mulder (Duchovny) and Scully (Anderson).
Sveta (Annet Mahendru) pleading with Scully. Sveta believes she is regularly abducted by aliens.
Joel McHale is in the show as a conservative talk show host. Apparently, he is the one asking them to do an investigation.
Sveta, again.
THE SCRIPT! Episode one is titled, My Struggle.
Use your special eyes, and look at how uncomfortable she looks.
I've been rewatching the X-Files series and there's definitely something missing from these images. I can't say what, but there is something missing — maybe it's Joel McHale that's messing up my radar.
