Picturesque adventure The Pathless is a PS5 launch title

Publisher Annapurna Interactive has revealed the release date for The Pathless. The eye-catching game Giant Squid is slated to launch together with the PlayStation 5 on November 12th. The title will simultaneously be available on PS4, PC, and Apple Arcade as well.

Los Angeles based indie studio Giant Squid made a name for itself with 2016’s Abzu. The serene and artistic underwater exploration-adventure game made headlines not only for its clean yet striking art style but it also impressed with its calm gameplay design.

Fast-forward to today, and we now have confirmation that the studio’s follow-up project The Pathless is one month away from its launch. Planned as a launch title for Sony’s incoming next-gen console PlayStation 4, The Pathless will also launch on PS4 and PC. Later will be exclusively available on the Epic Games Store.

Forge a connection with your eagle companion as you hunt corrupted spirits, but be careful not to become the hunted yourself. Explore misty forests full of secrets, solve puzzles in ancient ruins, and test your skill in epic battles. The bond with your eagle and the fate of the world hang in the balance.

Giant Squid is continuing to create gorgeous visuals where we not only want to play but simply stare at or take a screenshot and use it as a wallpaper. It’s that impressive what the small studio created.

But there’s much more here. Compared to their last game Abzu, The Pathless offers actual combat. As an archer on a mystical island, you’ll make plenty of use of your bow & arrow on your journey to quench a dangerous curse that threatens to engulf the world.

Accompanying you is an eagle that will help you glide in the air and reach hard-to-get spots. While today’s release date trailer is fairly short, you absolutely need to check out the previous gameplay overview video to get a better understanding of the gameplay mechanics. Suffice to say, fluidity and speed are at the focal point of The Pathless.
