David Crane, the creator of the best-selling Atari 2600 game Pitfall!, has turned to Kickstarter for his next project, Jungle Adventure (working title).
Backers will need to collectively pledge $900,000 to reach full funding for the side-scrolling action game.
Crane was one of the co-founders of Activision, but he hasn't been a member of the company for some time. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the original Pitfall!, and although Crane doesn't have the rights to the game, Jungle Adventure will be a spiritual successor.
Studio JungleVenture plans to release the game digitally for PC and Mac. The campaign ends on September 15.
