PixelJunk 4am PSN release date announced

Q-Games' eccentric music creation game, PixelJunk 4am, will release on PSN May 15th.

PixelJunk 4am lead designer Rowan Parker took to the PlayStation blog to update PS3 fans on what's in store for them as they mix music by manipulating the various instrument tracks and adding loops or samples.

As detailed on the blog, each song has 4 track instruments: Bass, Drum, Rhythm, and Synth.  Each track then has 4 different looping samples and four one-shot sounds in space that you can use.  All of the loops and samples are different for each song as well.  That means there are at least 160 different sound samples to pull from and mix however your creative mind wants.

In addition to the sound samples, you can add Effects.  Each of the four tracks has a unique Effects on different axes around you.  Effects include reverb, low/high pass filter, flinger, ringmod, and more.

PixelJunk 4am supports up to two PS Move controllers allowing you to play with a friend or dual-wield one in each hand.

If that weren't enough, PixelJunk 4am can also be used as a stand-alone music visualizer when playing your own music on the PS3.  Five original PixelJunk visualizers will be available from start with additional ones unlockable after regular playthrough.

PS3 owners can expect an early access Live Beta for PlayStation Plus members.  A limited number of codes will be given to PS Plus members who own a Move.  There will also be a PixelJunk 4am Free Viewer beta download available to all PlayStation Plus members.  The Live Beta will start on May 1st and run for two weeks.  Further details about how you can access it will be announced soon.
