The official start date for PlanetSide 2's closed beta on PlayStation 4 will be announced this week — sometime during the next few days, Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley announced recently.
SOE's head honcho has taken to Twitter quite frequently of late, giving PlayStation fans informal updates on the status of the closed beta. Over the holiday break, he briefly mentioned that the beta had passed Sony's certification and was on track to arrive either the week of January 13th or January 20th.
Offering more informal information, Smedley said yesterday that SOE will officially announce PlanetSide 2's PS4 beta start date "in the next few days." He also assured that the announcement will explain SOE's rollout plans. Signs-ups for the closed beta have been ongoing for a few weeks now, but it's unclear how many participants will be accepted at first. Either way, Smedley promised that they won't be sending out codes via email until "just before" the beta starts, and urged eager players not to wait by their email inbox just yet.
As always, we'll be sure to let you know when the beta start date is officially announced.
