PlanetSide 2 won’t support full character transfers from PC to PS4

Players looking to migrate from the PC version of PlanetSide 2 to the upcoming PS4 version will have to leave their characters behind. Due to "potential version issues," PlanetSide 2 won't be able to support full character transfers between the two platforms, SOE told us at E3 last week. On the bright side, SOE will offer players who switch from the PC to the PS4 version some kind of incentive.

"We're talking about exactly what we're going to do," lead designer Luke Sigmund said. "We'll have more information on that later, but we'll definitely give them stuff to give them a leg up — probably some cool weapon or something."

As for items and other things you've purchased in the PC version, SOE is still "looking into all options" in regards to whether or not they will (or even can) carry over, but "haven't committed to anything just yet."

And as we reported earlier this week, incentives won't only be given to players who have a PlanetSide 2 account on PC. PlayStation Plus members will also get incentives, but again, SOE isn't sure what that'll consist of. They did say that these incentives won't be "game-changing things," but rather "little boosts here and there."

PlanetSide 2 doesn't yet have a release date for PS4, but the beta is "probably not too far off," I was told. The game appeared to be in pretty stable condition during my preview session, save for a few UI hiccups.
