Play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on the go with iOS & Android release

One of the most-beloved Metroidvanias of all time is now available in the palm of your hands. Quite literally, as Konami ported Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to iOS and Android devices. With the budget price of just $2.99, the entrance fee to experience a verified classic couldn’t be better as well.

Here’s a nice surprise for retro gamers and fans of the Metroidvania genre in general. One of the grandfathers of the genre just got a stealth release for mobile devices, courtesy of Konami. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night not only left its mark on the genre after it came out decades ago on the mighty PlayStation 1, but it also co-defined the genre. SOTN is literally the Vania part of Metroidvania.

The iconic game from the beloved Castlevania series finally comes to mobile. This direct port of the classic console action RPG lets you jump, dash and slash your way through Dracula’s vast castle as Alucard while encountering a unique array of enemies and characters along the way.

Rediscover the world of Castlevania with one of its original groundbreaking games and renowned music and graphics.

Features:

• Fully compatible with game controllers
• New continue feature
• Unlock achievements with hard-fought battle milestones
• Available in 6 languages: English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish

Naturally, the game got ported across a wide range of systems, was part of collections but there were sadly some places Castlevania: Symphony of the Night never appeared on. The most prominent omission is, of course, the PC. A real shame, as the 2D game shouldn’t be that much of an issue to bring over to PCs.

But another, more unlikely platform has now gotten the honor of being home to SOTN. It’s your everyday helper and quint-essential smartphone and tablet. If you’re an owner of an Apple or Android device, you’ll now have no excuse to not play Symphony of the Night. That’s of course not taking into consideration your tolerance for touch-screen controls.
