Play Super Smash Bros. Wii U using the 3DS with the Smash Controller app

There are lots of reasons to love Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, a big one being the accommodating selection of control options. For those who didn’t double-dip with the game and stuck to the console version, you now have another option open to you.

This week, Nintendo released the Smash Controller application on the Nintendo eShop, which allows you to use the 3DS as a controller in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. Presently, the 3DS version already allows you to connect to its console counterpart from within the game. But the Smash Controller is a way for those with no intention of picking up the handheld version to have access to this control method — for a small fee.

The Smash Controller application is currently available for $0.99 ($1.29 CDN) on the Nintendo eShop for those that wish to extend their probability for a fully-attended 8-Player Smash game.
