According to some recent player data via EA's official multiplayer servers, Battlefield 4 holds 50% more concurrent players over a 24 hour period than Star Wars: Battlefront. Battlefield 4 averages 125,000 players versus Star Wars: Battlefront hosting 80,000.
Battlefield Hardline is even further behind with only 25,000 active users, 400% less than Battlefield 4.
This isn't terribly surprising considering that Star Wars: Battlefront was perceived to lack long lasting content at launch (check out our Review). Although EA has continued to support the came through content updates (albeit behind a Season Pass for the most part), many players tend to stick only to Blast, Supremacy and Walker Assault modes. That's only three out of a total of ten modes, which isn't a recipe for long-term success.
The Outer Rim DLC was the first of four planned expansion packs that will release every so often until 2017, so the good news is that EA is planning to support the game over the long haul. Here's hoping some of those numbers begin to balance out.
