PlayerUknown’s Battlegrounds considering cross-play with PC and Xbox One

They are going about it the right way.

During Microsoft's E3 2017 presentation, PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds was revealed to be coming to the Xbox One as a timed exclusive as part of Xbox's Preview Program for games still in early access. The developers definitely have "plans and thoughts about other platforms," but they want to be established before they expand.

Battlegrounds is currently on PC and will be making its way to the Xbox One later this year. Xbox and PC players have been known to mingle, here and there, in online games and Battlegrounds might be one of those games, but the devs want to resolve the competitive side of things.

Speaking with VG247, executive producer of Battlegrounds, Chang Han Kim, talked about future plans for cross-play:

"Cross network play between the PC and the console is definitely something we want to do down the road, and we don’t anticipate we’ll have any technical issues with that.

"But… when you consider the competitive side of the game, I do feel that there’s a balance issue between controllers and keyboard and mouse. That’s what’s making it difficult for us to do right away. If we’re going to allow players to use controllers we need to have the aim assist added in and things like that. We’re not going to be supporting it right away, but it’s something we’d like to look into later."

It good of the devs to be considering competitive gameplay from the get-go!
