PlayerUnknown’s Battleground sells more than 7 million copies

Can anything stop this juggernaut?

If you're a gamer, then it's impossible for you at this point to have not heard about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, or as it's commonly referred, PUBG. The game has become the new "darling" of the gaming industry, between just about every major trade talking about it and streaming gameplay, as well as becoming the most played, non-Valve, game on Steam, the game is just on fire.

So it should come as no surprise, that game is just selling by the boatload. According to SteamSpy Data, the game has sold over 7 million copies. It was reported back in June, the game had sold 4 million copies, by July, it had crossed both 5 and 6 million. The game's sales are accelerating very quickly and it's incredible to think that it's sold nearly 3 million in about a month and a half, where it took nearly four months to sell 4 million.

Another figure that continues to grow, obviously, is the concurrent player count. Earlier this month, it was reported that PUBG had surpassed GTA V, at the peak of its popularity, by having over 500,000 people online at the same time. It's not surprising to see that count grow as the sales continue, but to see that it has grown to 620,612, is just mind-numbing.

Keep in mind, Battlegrounds is still in Early Access, i.e., it's not even done. It's also just recently introduced loot crates, which is another revenue stream. So any way you put it, PUBG is a cash cow and it's on its way to XBOX One at a time when it really, really needs it.
