PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds doesn’t have a free trial for Xbox One players at launch

PlayerUnknown's Battleground is finally here on Xbox One, and with the game firmly entrenching itself as one of 2017's biggest new brands, that's exciting news for platform fans. That said, there's always a bit of hesitation when it comes to Early Access games, which PUBG technically is in Xbox's Preview Programs. Because of this, every game in the program, including names like The Long Dark and ARK: Survival Evolved, has had a one-hour free trial at launch, but PUBG has elected not to follow suit.

Speaking to Windows Central, and Xbox rep said that the reason for this is namely due to server stability.

"At the launch of "PUBG" on Xbox One in Xbox Game Preview, the one-hour trial period will not be available as we are prioritizing server stability for the game. However, we are looking to bring a one-hour trial period to the game once player concurrency and server stability are optimized; we'll share more in the future."

Given that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a significant release for Xbox One, you can understand why the company would elect to be conservative in that regard. PUBG also has its share of connectivity issues for Steam players as well from time to time, so ensuring that things go as smoothly as possible, particularly with the expectation of a high number of players being present at launch even without the trial, is pretty essential.

Developer Bluehole recently pulled back the curtain on PUBG's new map, Miramar, which looks to change up player strategies quite a bit apart from simple aesthetic differences. If you're a PC player looking to try out the console version, you can get a look at the updated control scheme here, which is much improved over the ones previously revealed.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now on PC and Xbox One.
