PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will no longer be shareable through Steam, cheaters to blame

As one of the most sought-after games in the world, you can imagine how many people around the world are sharing their copy of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds with family and friends who may not have the finances to buy the game on their own. Those days are about to be over according to a new post on the game’s Steam forum discussing what measures the developers are taking to stop cheaters.

One of the methods Bluehole says they are using is disabling Steam family sharing as they have “identified a number of vulnerabilities that are being exploited” by cheaters. The company has also established an internal team to fight back against cheat programs of all kinds an is developing a new anti-cheat solution that will roll out on live servers next week.

Right now, the anti-cheat measure will focus on blocking any unauthorized programs that alter PUBG’s graphics or gameplay mechanics. The measure will be expanded upon in time, but for now, this is what you can expect from it.

Bluehole also says they are focused on the PUBG’s in-game reporting features, which are also being enhanced further for added speed and accuracy. The last of the anti-cheat methods is a crackdown on file modification, which the developers say can block your access to the game entirely.

The end of the post reaffirmed Bluehole’s commitment to stopping cheaters from ruining the game.

“The internally developed anti-cheat solution is planned to be upgraded steadily after the first implementation next week. As mentioned earlier, the eradication of cheat programs will not end with a few attempts and actions. In addition to the systems currently in development and already implemented, we are looking into a more effective system, and we will actively introduce any solutions that were confirmed to be reliable and accurate. We will continue taking firm measures against the developers, distributors and users of cheats. We promise you that we will do our best every day in our battle for a fair game environment.”

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now in Early Access on Steam and on Xbox One via the Preview Program.
