PlayStation 3 indie darling The Unfinished Swan out on PC and iOS

Indie developer Giant Sparrow’s memorable artistic adventure game The Unfinished Swan is at long last available on PC and mobile devices. You can grab the game either on Steam or the Epic Games Store for $13.49 and on the Apple App Store for just $4.99. Here’s the launch trailer!

When Giant Sparrow originally released their surreal adventure-puzzler on the mighty PS3 back in 2012, the gaming world was a very different one. The mere concept of indie games was still in its infancy and just gaining traction.

One of these early standouts from indie developers that highlighted the value of them was The Unfinished Swan. The picturesque adventure game invites players to explore and discover a painted world and solve various puzzles by thinking outside the box.

Explore a mysterious all-white landscape by splatting paint to reveal the world around you in The Unfinished Swan. As Monroe, a 10-year-old orphan, you’ll follow a swan that’s stepped out of an unfinished painting and wandered off into a surreal, storybook-inspired kingdom. Each chapter brings surprises, new ways to explore the world, a host of bizarre (and sometimes dangerous) creatures, and encounters with the eccentric king who built this empire.

Even back when it was new, The Unfinished Swan was a tad too experimental and artsy for the mainstream consumers but that didn’t hold it back from being one of the best exclusives on the PS3 and a figurative swansong towards the end of Sony’s last-gen home console – pun intended.

The game was ported to the PS4 and PS Vita in 2014 but it took the publisher and developer quite the time to finally bring it to the PC. It’s actually the perfect place since the PC indie scene is extremely vibrant and traditionally welcoming of new experiences.

The nice budget price sure helps with the enticement as well. Since The Unfinished Swan is a rather calm adventure, you might want to opt for the iOS version for this one. At roughly a third of the PC price, it does offer intrinsically more value.
