PlayStation 4 Pro Media Player Getting a 4K Update

PlayStation 4 has already had a good media player that could play from a USB or a home server. But if that wasn't enough, the Pro models will be getting an update tomorrow to be able to play 4K video.

In their European PlayStation blog, Sony announced this update today with release planned tomorrow. Not only is the media player being updated, but 4K will also be available for applicable titles on the Netflix and YouTube apps as well.

In addition, the media player will also support playback of 4K VR video content. The PS VR's display resolution is 1920 x RGB x 1080, but the video playback would display video playback at a higher quality than HD VR, according to Sony.
