Sony's golden child, the PlayStation 4, has made the headlines on Black Friday once again, four years after release. The console which has seen no notable exclusives in its holiday line-up aside from Gran Turismo Sport and some VR games has sold out online at numerous retailers like Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and more. At the time of writing, the console has been out of stock on numerous sites for many hours meaning you may have to wait a day or two or buy a bundle/from a third-party if you were planning to nab one online.
The console's in-store availability does vary between stores but it wouldn't be surprising if the console quickly flew off the shelves at many stores. The console which boasts a hefty catalogue of exclusives from the past few years and some of the hottest third-party titles of 2017 was priced at a competitive $199.99 price point making it much more affordable than a Nintendo Switch and the brand new Xbox One X.
With hype being built around games like Spider-Man, God of War, The Last of Us 2, and third-party titles that Sony has marketing rights for like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty, it's unsurprising to see the console dominating the holiday shopping season. Of course, the NPD will tell us how it compares to the other consoles next month.
