Unsurprisingly, Sony's 2017 run of dominance continues. While it remains to be seen if those fortunes change in light of the Nintendo Switch launch, we can say for sure that once again, the PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console in the United States during the last month. The NPD Group shared their data with Venture Beat and makes it now the fourth consecutive month that the PS4 has outsold its competitors.
There are a plethora of reasons why this continues to be the case, but you have to look no further than the releases each platform has had. The Wii U didn't have anything until now with Breath of the Wild, but even then, the console is no longer a part of the race. The Xbox One hasn't taken off yet this year with Halo Wars 2 being the platform's only exclusive. The PS4, on the other hand, has Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Nioh, and Horizon: Zero Dawn already out with NieR: Automata currently being a platform exclusive with a PC release next week.
It'll be interesting to see how much the numbers shift for March 2017 and if the Nintendo Switch or the Xbox One can gain any ground.
