PlayStation 5 orders being delayed by Amazon due to high demand

Pre-ordering the PlayStation 5 has been a chaotic event. They went live before they were supposed to, giving zero heads-up. This made it an every man for himself situation, causing confusion and frustration for everyone. That said, many people secured their pre-order… but there will be problems for Amazon customers.

Amazon has sent out emails to those who pre-ordered the PlayStation 5 saying their order may be delayed. Due to super high demand, Amazon is expecting some orders to ship later than others. While it’s not clear how many, Amazon has said they’re going to try and fulfill as many as they can for release day.

“We’re contacting you about your order of PlayStation 5 Console to let you know in advance that you may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand. We’ll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible once released,” reads the statement.

Amazon says you’ll be able to track your order soon to see if your PlayStation 5 was delayed. Sony is expected to have around 10 million PlayStation 5 units this quarter. To fulfill the demand, Sony is reportedly using dozens of flights to ship the consoles around the globe.

Sony just announced the price and release date for the PS5 this week. The digital edition will cost $399.99 while the standard one will cost $499.99. The PlayStation 5 is set to hit on November 12th in the United States. Games like Demon’s Souls, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available at launch.
