There has been an intense fever for giving money to Sony for a console that isn’t even available yet. People want to secure their PlayStation 5 pre-orders, creating an intense state of paranoia. You can relax though, it won’t be a sudden surprise and a mad dash to Amazon.
Sony has announced that you have nothing to fear, they will announce pre-orders ahead of time. This will give you time to get your debit card ready and load up all your retailers on your computer. This all comes after a random rumor hit the internet telling people PlayStation 5 pre-orders were minutes away from happening. Of course, they never happened.
“We had nothing to do with it,” said Sony’s senior vice president of marketing Eric Lempel in a stream with Geoff Keighley. “I got a message from someone saying people are lining up at stores, and we had no idea why. We’ll let you know when pre-orders will happen. It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice. We’re going to, at some point, let you know when you can pre-order PlayStation 5.”
The next-gen console has no concrete release date or price, causing even more paranoia. Many believe it could range between $500 – $600, placing it up there with the controversial price of the PS3. That and the fact that Sony aims to have 10 million units available this holiday will certainly probably keep it from selling out too fast.
The PlayStation 5 is slated to release this holiday season.
