PlayStation 5 User Interface gets first extensive video

After last week’s talk of backward compatibility, it’s the UIs turn today. Sony finally shows what the user interface of its next-gen console looks like. Here’s your first look at the user experience on the PlayStation 5.

Thankfully, Sony decided not just to share short teases of the PS5 user interface but instead released an extensive demo. Even though the video is over 10 minutes longs, there’s still more to see and learn.

But what we see is already very promising. Unsurprisingly, the PlayStation 5 sports a totally redesigned user interface. This is not just because it’s a new console but the advanced technology powering next-gen allows for an entirely new experience altogether.

The keyword here is integration. Thanks to the powerful hardware and fast NVMe SSD, PS5 users can switch super easy and quick between games. Not only that, but developers can integrate useful features, so-called Activities, like level progressions, walkthroughs, hints, and more right into the user interface.

With a press of the PS button on the DualSense, ther Control Center opens. Here, a plethora of options lay wide open. Join other games, send screenshots, start voice chats, check mission progress, and so much more. It’s designed with easy to understand ‘cards’ which make navigation child’s play.

Another standout feature is the option to watch hint videos or streams of your friends via Picture-in-Picture or in a sidebar while continuing to play. It’s all pretty nifty stuff and is massive jump over the PS4 user interface.

Just It’s the first time Sony showed the PlayStation 5 user interface, and we expect to see much more in the weeks towards the console’s launch on November.
